According to Thai media reports, on the evening of July 29, relevant departments received complaints that several homeless people were sleeping at a bus stop in front of a department store in Bangkok's BangKapi district. Upon learning of this, Prime Minister Sudirawa immediately ordered the People's Welfare Management Center, under the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, and other relevant departments to urgently go to the scene to investigate and ensure the lives, health, and safety of the people.
When police officers from the local police station arrived at the scene, they found a total of five homeless people, three men and two women, including two elderly people, sleeping at the bus stop. Varawu, the Minister of Social Development and Human Security, revealed that staff from the People's Welfare Management Center also rushed to the scene immediately to communicate with the homeless individuals. After communication, the homeless individuals refused to be included in the center's assistance list. Some of them had legitimate jobs but earned too little to afford proper housing, forcing them to sleep at the bus stop. Others had just been released from prison and did not know how to apply for assistance. The elderly person chose to sleep at the bus stop due to family issues and being unable to receive care from their children.
To ensure the safety of the people, the BangKapi District Office of the People's Welfare Management Center will work with the local police to inspect the area and closely monitor the living conditions of beggars and homeless people. Staff emphasized that if members of the public encounter any problems that require assistance, especially for homeless groups such as the homeless, they can promptly contact the management center through a hotline for help.
