On July 31st, according to data from the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Thailand, the number of foreign tourists visiting Thailand surpassed 20 million from January 1st to July 28th. In the past week (July 22nd to 28th), there was an increase in inbound tourists from short-haul markets such as South Korea and Japan, with a growth rate of 0.85%. Notably, inbound tourists from South Korea increased by 6,368, marking a surge of 18.06%. Additionally, the cumulative number of inbound Chinese tourists exceeded 4 million.
Over the past week, Thailand welcomed a total of 716,631 foreign tourists, representing an increase of 7,364 visitors or 1.04% compared to the previous week, with an average daily arrival of 102,376. Among them, the top five countries of origin for foreign tourists were China (158,374 visitors), Malaysia (93,669 visitors), South Korea (41,623 visitors), India (37,249 visitors), and Vietnam (26,777 visitors). Tourist arrivals from South Korea and Malaysia grew by 18.06% and 2.97% respectively compared to the previous week, while there were slight declines in tourist numbers from China, India, and Vietnam.
As of July 29th, 2024, Thailand has received a cumulative total of 20,335,107 tourists this year, generating approximately 957.319 billion Thai Baht in revenue from foreign tourist spending. The top five countries in terms of tourist arrivals to Thailand are China (4,065,109 visitors), Malaysia (2,837,922 visitors), India (1,186,288 visitors), South Korea (1,073,792 visitors), and Russia (996,990 visitors).
