On August 5th, according to Thai media reports, the Thai Immigration Bureau Police recently held a press conference to announce the progress of their operation to severely crack down on gangs smuggling foreign laborers in accordance with the law.
Case 1: The Immigration Bureau of Nan Province and the Immigration Bureau of Surin Province jointly arrested the 50-year-old suspect Jirawa, who was alleged to have accepted employment on Zello and Line apps for 18,000 Thai Baht to assist in transporting six Cambodian illegal laborers from Phayao Province to Chanthaburi Province. Police investigations revealed that the person who hired Jirawa, Nuliang, had been suspected in multiple cases of illegally transporting foreign laborers.
Case 2: Immigration Bureau police arrested 24-year-old Sayam, who was suspected of collaborating with two other members of a gang to smuggle 19 Bangladeshi illegal laborers from Thailand to Malaysia. Police investigations showed that this gang had been involved in multiple cases of smuggling illegal laborers. A total of 62 suspects, including 10 Thais and 52 foreigners, have been arrested from upstream to downstream in the operation, and eight vehicles involved in the smuggling were seized.
Case 3: In a vehicle rollover accident, the Immigration Bureau police in Chumphon Province arrested 36-year-old suspect Hawai, who was alleged to have collaborated with his accomplice Anula to accept employment for 1,000 Thai Baht per person to transport 18 Myanmar illegal laborers from central Thailand to the south. Police investigations revealed that the two suspects and their gang had been involved in four cases of smuggling illegal laborers. Currently, 12 suspects and 102 illegally entered foreign laborers have been arrested, and six vehicles involved in the smuggling have been detained.
