The government, through the Ministry of Culture, kicked off the celebration. A majestic ceremony dedicated to His Majesty the King took place at Sanam Luang, showcasing 26 parades in his honor. A magnificent display of 1,200 drones formed patterns celebrating the royal duties of His Majesty and saluting his contributions to the health and welfare of Thai citizens. The Prime Minister also launched the "United Hearts, Clean Water for Schools, Commemorating His Majesty's 72nd Birthday" project.
The official celebration commenced, marking the sixth anniversary of His Majesty's birthday on July 28, 2024. The government, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and the four armed forces—Army, Navy, Air Force, Police, and Military—organized a solemn ceremony. The event, spanning from July 11 to 15, was held at Sanam Luang, with the opening ceremony presided over by Ms. Sudawan Wangsuphakitkoson, Minister of Culture, on July 11 evening. Diplomatic missions from various countries were in attendance, along with representatives from government agencies, private sectors, public sectors, and cultural networks nationwide. The ceremony site was filled with a sea of people.
The festivities kicked off at 5:30 PM with a parade honoring His Majesty the King. The floats in the parade embodied the cultural traditions of the four regions, showcasing performances such as the Khala King Dance, lantern processions, and Khanthoke dance. Other highlights included nail-dancing performances accompanied by Sabat Chai drumming, fairy processions, Dong ethnic group floats, Mo Lam Ploen and long drum dances, provincial flags and banners from Thailand's 59 provinces, brass band music, folk performances, Nang Yai dances, cockfighting games, and a diverse array of multicultural displays featuring Thai Buddhists, Malays, Chinese Thais, and more—a total of 26 beautiful and exquisite parades. The parade route began at Khok Wua intersection, proceeded along Ratchadamnoen Road, turned onto Na Phra Lan Road, passed in front of Phra That Doi Suthep, and culminated at Sanam Luang for the conclusion of the celebration with a performance of the Theprangsarit Chaturapith dance, symbolizing blessings.
