On July 16th, Thai media reported that U.S. News and the social media account named "Statistics World" had placed Thailand in fourth place in their "Most Beautiful Countries in the World" ranking released at the end of June.
The ranking, which encompasses over 87 countries and regions globally, places Thailand in fourth position, with New Zealand, Greece, and Italy occupying the top three spots. Thailand's impressive fourth-place ranking is attributed to several factors, including the fact that despite tourism contributing only 7% to its GDP, the country remains one of the most visited in the world. Renowned as the "Land of Smiles," Thailand boasts a blend of modern metropolises, ancient architectures, enchanting beaches, and sacred temples. Furthermore, the country's world-famous Thai massage and its diverse and flavorful cuisine have also contributed significantly to its charm.
Statistics from the first half of 2024 (January to June) reveal that Thailand has consistently ranked highly in various tourism categories:
Bangkok topped the list of "Best Cities."
Phuket and Koh Samui secured third and fourth places, respectively, in the "Best Islands" category.
Suvarnabhumi Airport ranked second in the "Best Airports" category.
Thai Airways International was named the third "Best Airline in the Asia-Pacific Region" by DestinAsian magazine.
Thailand emerged as the number one "Best Country for Tourism" according to CEOWORLD magazine.
Maya Bay was ranked fifth among the "World's Best Beaches" by BeachAtlas.
Based on data from the global travel platform Agoda, Thailand placed second in the list of "Most Popular Destinations for Japan's Golden Week."
